Mobile carriers are cracking down on messaging traffic, leading to some messages not getting delivered.
So what can you do?
Here are some options.
Verify Your Toll-Free Number (TFN)
Your Mobile Text Alerts account comes with a free TFN you can use to send messages.
However, if you don’t go through the verification process with the mobile carriers, you’ll run into some limitations:
- You’ll only be able to send a maximum of 2,000 messages per day
- Your messages will be subject to strict carrier filtering, so you may find that your messages are not getting delivered
Verifying your toll-free number will remove these limitations, and is typically as simple as filling out a 2-minute form.
Once the form is filled out, within 1 business day your phone number will be “whitelisted” and you’ll be able to send messages with fewer limits and less carrier filtering.
We’ll submit the form for you, and it will take 4-5 weeks for the mobile carriers to fully review the submission in order to permanently verify your number.

- Phone number is a generic toll-free number with an 800 area code
- Turnaround time for carriers to officially verify the number is 4-5 weeks
Log into your Dashboard and click the “Brand Registration” link to submit your registration form. (Select the “Use New Mobile Text Alerts Experience” toggle if you’re not currently using the new platform in order to access this option.)
Use a 10-Digit Long Code (10DLC)
If you prefer, you can get a 10DLC set up on your account for $15 per month.
This option allows you to send messages from a phone number with a local area code (rather than a toll-free number with a generic 800 area code). You can even send texts from your own local business landline or mobile number.
To get a 10DLC set up, simply complete a brief registration form similar to the TFN process described above. This will help remove daily limits and carrier filtering.
Pros:
- Most successful delivery rates
- Phone number has a local area code (it can even be your regular business line)
- Turnaround time to verify the number is 1 business day
Cons:
- $15/month fee
- Sole proprietors without an EIN are currently not able to use 10DLCs unless daily traffic is less than 1,000 messages
