A good online text service will allow you to have some back-and-forth with your subscribers.
With your Mobile Text Alerts account, if you send out a message and subscribers reply to your message, you can view these replies from an inbox on your Control Panel. This tutorial will walk you through the “Message Replies” page.
The Inbox
Your Message Replies Inbox looks like this:
From this page you will be able to see a detailed report of the replies you have received to your messages. This can help you engage with your subscribers, whether you are using your account for SMS marketing, text reminders, or any other mass texting purpose.
- The “Read” column shows you whether or not you have viewed a particular reply. Unread replies are darkened and have bold text; once you click on a reply to view it, the text and the icon for that reply are lightened, indicating it as “Read.”
- The “From” column shows the name and phone number (or email address) of the person who replied.
- The “Date” column shows the day and time that the reply was sent.
- The “Message” column shows the content of the most recent reply.
If you click on one of the replies you will be able to see the history of messages and replies to and from that particular subscriber, and you will also be able to quickly type in another message to that subscriber:
There is also an "Unsubscribe User" button on this screen you will be able to click on if you want to remove this subscriber as a user and add them to your opt-out list.
If you want to delete a particular reply in a thread, click the trash bin icon next to that reply on this screen.
From the Message Replies page you can also click the green icon on the bottom right-hand corner if you would like to receive push notifications on your browser when new replies come in.
Mark All as Read and Reply Settings
The "Mark All as Read" button at the top will list all the replies as read. Clicking "Reply Settings" will take you to your Settings page:
From here you will be able to enter in a number if you would like message replies to be forwarded to a mobile phone when they come in. (Note that even if replies are forwarded to your phone, you will not be able to respond back to the subscriber through the text thread in which you receive the forwarded replies. You can go in to your Mobile Text Alerts control panel to reply back, or send the subscriber a personal text from your phone.)
You can also select whether or not you want people to receive an automatic message back whenever they reply to your texts, and you can type out what you would like the auto-response to say.
Click "Save" to save any changes.
Other Features
On the Message Replies page, you can change how many entries from your reply list are shown by clicking the arrow (above the table) that says “Show __ entries.” Then from the drop-down menu that appears, you can select 10, 25, 50, or 100 entries.
You can search through your message replies by typing a search query in the text box.
You can export a spreadsheet of your message replies by clicking the "Export" button on the bottom right corner.
